This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect and how it is used and shared. We take your privacy seriously and hope that you will take the time to continue reading this policy to learn more about how we keep your personal information private and safe.
As you review this policy, keep in mind that it applies to all BlueCard brands, features, products, and services that do not have a separate privacy policy or that link to this policy, which we call the “Services.” This policy does not apply to services offered by other third parties, including products or sites that may be accessible from our services. Information we collect
Depending on the Services you use, we collect different kinds of information from or about you to operate and improve our Services.
Things you do and information you provide. We collect the content you create, upload, or receive from others as well as the information you provide us with when you use our Services. This can include information in or about the content you provide (like metadata), such as the location of a photo or the date a file was created. For example, if you’re a parent creating a BlueCard Account we’ll ask for personal information to store with your account, like information about yourself and your children that you can then share with others, like schools, camps and daycare. If you are a school or a district, we’ll ask you to create a public profile for each of your locations so people can find you and send you their BlueCards™. We also collect information about how you use our Services, like the frequency and duration of your activities.
Things others do and information they provide. We also collect content and information that others provide when they use our Services, including information about you or your children, like when a school administrator creates or updates a BlueCard for a parent who doesn’t own an internet-enabled device for instance or when a friend adds you as an emergency contact for one of their children.
Your networks and connections. We collect content and information about how our Services are used, like who you send your information to, request information from, or sync information with. We also collect contact information you provide if you upload, sync or import information (such as an address book) from a device.
Device information. We collect information from or about the computers, phones, or other devices where you install or access our Services. We may associate the information we collect from your different devices, which helps us provide consistent Services across your devices. Here are some examples of the device information we collect:
Attributes such as the operating system, hardware version, device settings, file and software names and types, battery and signal strength, and device identifiers.
Device locations, including specific geographic locations, such as through GPS, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi signals.
Connection information such as the name of your mobile operator or ISP, browser type, language and time zone, mobile phone number and IP address.
We may collect and store information (including personal information) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage (including HTML 5) and application data caches.
Payment information. We may collect information about your purchases, billing and contact details. Credit or debit card information is transmitted directly to
Stripe, a certified PCI Level 1 Service Provider, and is never passes through our servers nor is it accessible by us.
How we use the information we collect
We use all the information we have from all of our Services to provide, maintain, protect and improve them, to develop new ones, and to protect BlueCard and our users.
Provide, improve and develop Services. We are able to deliver our Services to you by using all of the information we’ve collected to understand how you use and interact with our Services so that we can improve them and develop new ones for our users. For example: (i) we may use an email or mobile phone number you provide us to send or request information from others at your request; (ii) we keep a record of your communications with us to help solve any issues you might be facing; (iii) we may combine information from one of our Services with information, including personal information, from other Services – for example to make it easier for you to share BlueCards with schools near you; (iv) we may transfer, store and process information (including personal information) through trusted third parties on servers in the United States or any other country in which BlueCard or its agents maintain facilities; and (v) we may use trusted third parties to help us analyze our traffic and usage patterns to improve and personalize your experience when interacting with any of our Services.
Communicate with you. We use your information to inform you about our Services, fulfillment of any transaction you have requested, to market products and services, to update you on developments that may affect your use of the Services, and to let you know about our policies and terms. We will periodically communicate with you to request that you confirm or update your account information, including the list of people or places that you are sharing or syncing information with. We will also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.
Promote safety and security. We use the information we have to help verify accounts and activity, and to promote safety and security on and off of our Services, such as by investigating suspicious activity or violations of our terms or policies. We employ at least industry standard systems and procedures to ensure the security and confidentiality of your data, protect against anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity of your data, and protect against unauthorized access to or use of your data.
Research and innovate for social good. We use the information we have to conduct and support research and innovation on topics of general social welfare, technological advancement, public interest, health and well-being.
We use cookies and similar technologies to provide and support our Services and each of the uses outlined and described above in this section of our policy.
How this information is shared
People use our Services to share their information with others. We make this possible by sharing information in the following ways:
Information you and others share. When you use our Services to share information (including personal information and updates to personal information) and content with others, you choose who can see what you share. For example, parents can send a school a list of their child’s allergies, instructions for what to do in the event of an emergency or even let the school know who is authorized to pick up their kid. In some cases, the people or places you’ve shared information or content with may copy, store or re-share this data with others or use it to communicate with you – for example a school you’ve shared information or content with may (i) share the photo and other descriptive information you’ve provided them to law enforcement authorities (including school resource officers); (ii) share the medical or insurance information you’ve provided to medical services providers; (iii) authorize its employees to access the information in its account (including your information) to administer its services; or (iv) archive a copy of your information for their records.
Information we share. The only times we will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of BlueCard is if one of the following circumstances applies:
With your consent. We will share personal information with people and places outside of BlueCard when we have your consent to do so.
With BlueCard for Education administrators. If your account was assigned to you by an administrator like the school you work for, then your administrator will have access to your BlueCard account information (including personal information). Your administrator may be able to: (i) suspend or terminate your account access; (ii) access or retain information stored as part of your account; (iii) view statistics regarding your account; (iv) receive your account information in order to satisfy applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; and (v) restrict your ability to delete or edit information or privacy settings.
For external processing. We provide personal information to our affiliates or other trusted businesses or persons to process it for us, based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. We do this because they can help us provide and improve our Services, like providing technical infrastructure services, analyzing how our Services are used, measuring the effectiveness of services, providing customer service, facilitating payments, or conducting research and surveys.
For legal reasons. We will share personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside of BlueCard if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to (i) meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; (ii) enforce applicable terms of service, including investigation of potential violations; (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; and (iv) protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of BlueCard, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.
Ownership changes. If the ownership or control of all or part of our Services or their assets changes, we may transfer your information to the new owner.
We may also share non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners. For example, we may share information publicly to show trends about the general use of our services.
Managing your information
Our goal is to be clear about what information we collect, so that you can make meaningful choices about how it is used. For example, we provide tools that allow you to: (i) access and update your personal information; (ii) control who you share information and updates with; (iii) manage how we communicate with you; and (iv) delete information from your account in a manner consistent with the functionality of the Services and in accordance with our terms and policies.
Keep in mind that when you share information, like sending a list of your child’s emergency contacts to a school, its like giving them a copy of it and that copy is not part of your account and will not be deleted when you delete your account. Also, we aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our Services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.

This policy may change from time to time. We’ll post any privacy policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain Services, email notification). We will also keep prior versions of this policy in an archive for your review.
